A GOOD Samaritan who rushed to the aid of a young women pretending to be suffering from an epileptic fit was dragged to the ground and robbed.
Gucci Wallet Bags ReplicaThe 77-year-old woman was leaving Asda supermarket on Kirkland Street last Thursday at around 2pm when she spotted a woman lying on the pavement.
She appeared to be having a fit and a man - believed to be in his early 20s with closely cropped hair - was kneeling over her.
The pensioner approached the pair to offer her help, but as she reached the stricken woman, her accomplice turned and grabbed her handbag.
He pulled the victim with such force she was led replacement bulbs dragged violently to the ground, leaving her with bruising to her arms and side.
The pair then leapt to their feet and ran off towards Napier Street where they tossed the bag aside after rifling through its contents and stealing a large sum of cash.
DC Mark Williams - who is leading the inquiry - said the pair had deliberately appealed to their victim's good nature to lure her into a false sense of security.
'Nasty trick'
"It seems very clear these people were working together to entice people to help them before turning on them," he said.
The man is described as 5ft 10in with very short, dark hair. He was wearing a light top and light bottoms.
His accomplice is thought to be 5ft 7in with short brown hair and a very thin face.
"It's difficult to know whether they will try to do this again but this is a nasty trick carried out by people who don't seem to care who they target.
"We need as many people as possible to help us catch these people."
